14 Weeks

14 Weeks

It has been an interesting week to say the least! Hurricane Irma has been looming so there has been a lot of anxiety over the last week. We ended up deciding to stay put. We did pretty well through Hurricane Matthew so to avoid any additional changes in Adam’s schedule, we hunkered down. I got out of work early on Thursday to prepare and finally went back to work on Wednesday. On Saturday right before the hurricane hit Adam got pink eye. A few days later we realized he had hand, foot and mouth along with his cousin Amelia. So we had 3 nights of no sleep with a cranky baby and a hurricane shaking our house. All in all we were without electricity for about 48 hours, lost everything in our fridge and a lot of roof shingles, but we survived and are getting back to normal. Let me tell you, going through a hurricane and not have electricity is a whole different story with a kid.

On Saturday before the storm hit instead of boarding up windows we had our appointment for our 3D gender reveal scan……and it’s a BOY!!!!!!! Kyle said he knew it for months, dad’s intuition I suppose. I will admit my hopes and dreams of shopping with a girl came crumbling down. But the next morning Adam woke up and said he wanted to wear a Lion King (Waka Ming as he calls it) shirt which he doesn’t own. So you better believe that I jumped online and let Adam pick out any Lion King shirt he wanted! Another sweet boy moment was when I was putting him down for bed last night we do our normal routine. We talk about all the great things he did that day, tell him how proud we are of him, and talk about the things that we are still working on (lately, that is being kind with our hands and not hitting), and lots of snuggles. It is normally a really special moment between us and he smiles so big and proud when we talk about his day. Well, yesterday during this sweet moment Adam purposefully pushed out a big fart on me and then died laughing as he continued to try and push out more farts on mama.  We both couldn’t’ stop laughing and I had a flash of what my life will look like with 2 boys! It is going to be crazy I’m sure but I really have always seen myself as a boy mom. I am honestly really excited to add another boy to the mix. Adam will be a great big brother and will love having someone to play with. I know boys and wont’ have much to prepare for the new baby. Kyle says he is really excited about our bank account since I won’t be spending a stupid amount of money on girl clothes. Honestly, I think I have spent a few hundred dollars on clothes in Adam’s entire life. Boy clothes just aren’t that fun for me, but it saves us moneyJ and people are right when they say “boys love their mamas”.

"Wake up dadda"

All the kisses

How I did not catch any of Adam's sickness over this week is a mystery. His new game is kissing and slobbering all over my face.

Helping clean up after the hurricane.

Playing in the car as we wait 45 minutes for a pizza which was the only thing open after the hurricane. And Adam's poor blisters on his leg:(
